Lake Metigoshe State Park
Park on the U.S.-Canada border is winter wonderland
Nestled in the scenic Turtle Mountains, Lake Metigoshe State Park is one of the most popular year-round vacation spots in North Dakota. The lake is noted for its northern pike, walleye and perch fishing, while the rolling hills, aspen forests and small lakes attract nature and photography lovers to the area. The Old Oak Trail, a National Recreation Trail, is found within the park boundaries.
And when you are done for the day, snuggle up to a warm fire in one of the cabins, yurts or dormitories within the park. Year-round cabins are the Slemmen, White Pelican and Loon lodges. Each is tucked into the woods and are equipped with bathroom, shower, kitchen and gas fireplace. The cabins are easy to access from park trails.
